The problem of unemployment is still a major problem in many countries in the world, as well as in Indonesia. An Indonesian economist, Aviliani, predicted Indonesia would be flooded educated unemployment in 2020. This is because of the growing number of college graduates is large and keep growing. Meanwhile, the number of jobs is only grows in a small number.

The number of Indonesian people who continue to higher education are increasing, both at bachelor level or even at post graduated level. It is also supported by the free education program in Indonesia, which has started being implemented from elementary school level to senior high school. Moreover, since the last 5 years, the Indonesian government also provide more higher education scholarships through the program's known as “Bidik Misi”.
Increased levels of education is unfortunately not matched by the expansion of employment opportunities. This then has the potential to increase the number of educated unemployment in Indonesia. Aviliani, advising the government to be able to compensate by intensifying labor certification program. Currently, as many as 95 percent of Indonesian workers have not been certified.
The lack of employment certificates owned by Indonesian labor make employment opportunities become more minimal, especially overseas. Moreover, the presence of the free market bring the flow of labor from abroad are also more easily enter Indonesia. When the number of foreign workers also increased, the employment of Indonesian citizens themselves will also be reduced. Therefore, Indonesian workers need to have an international certificate related to their expertise. The slow decline in unemployment in Indonesia is also due to the lack of labor-intensive investment. Investment tends to grow much more capital intensive so it does not absorb much labor.
Again, the government became the one who take a responsibility in the efforts to decrease the number of unemployment, including those who are educated or even uneducated. Society encourages the government to push job creation widest. Many communities also tend to choose to compete to be civil servants. In fact, the quota of civil servants is limited.
The increase of educated unemployment rate is pitiful. The experts who have a higher education end just as unemployed. Supposedly, a thing that must be taken is how to create their own jobs. Educated unemployment is to be supported with entrepreneurial education. With the creativity and entrepreneurial awareness, then they can actually participate in addressing the unemployment problem generally. If not, the high level of education obtained will not be helpful as well.
