His simplicity is already ingrained since his childhood. His parents are a couple who are also gain a simple life. Living in a simple way and with a simple principle of life anyway but still with hard work. Jokowi's mother, Mrs. Sujiatmi, is the one responsible in shaping the unique character Jokowi. She diligently to instill character education, life of simplicity, humility, coupled with hard work. Various character educations is then formed figure Jokowi successful as today. The simple message often delivered by Sujiatmi was "Nek mlakumu lurus, lempeng, uripmu mesti penak" If your paths straight, straightforward, life would be nice.
Choosing a straight path does not mean the freeway. Sharp gravel, potholes and steep hills would have been ready to make our way to turn a way. That is why we must remain steadfast in working hard. This condition has been realized by the little Jokowi. When he was child, Jokowi was ever felt how difficult it become evictees. At that time, a small house which also managed as timber business by his father's in the area Cinderejo Lor, evicted to be the center of travel services. But this didn’t mean to be desperate and disappointed. His family life continued to be able to get better every day.
His parents taught Jokowi about the meaning of sincerity and a sense of responsibility well. Jokowi grow up to be sociable and do not like to fight. Although only a carpenter's son, Jokowi never felt his father was not a glorious job. He remains proud of his father, as a hard worker. He diligently walked to school, while more friends liked to show off his new bike.
Jokowi hard work brought him successfully completing his study in one of the best universities in Indonesia, at the Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University, in 1985. After graduation, Jokowi wander into Aceh, one of the cities at the northwestern tip of Indonesia. There, he worked at one of SOE for almost 3 years. Having had enough experience, Jokowi back to work in his own city, Solo in a furniture company. Do not want to just be a worker, in 1998, he set up his own business. Hard work, perseverance, tenacity, and the experience led him to become successful entrepreneur furniture. His furniture products even managed to penetrate the export market.
After the success in the business world, Jokowi called to go into politics. He entered the world of politics but not just to be a politician to find a position or fame. Moreover, Jokowi wanted to be a carrier of change for his city. Jokowi ran for Mayor of Solo in 2004, under the stretcher party PDI-P. And it turns out his desire shared by people of Solo who put their trust to the improvement in the city of Solo, under Joko Widodo hands with his deputy Fx Rudi.
Jokowi demonstrated its ability to create a lot of positive buzz in Solo. Solo City under the leadership of Jokowi undergone many changes and advances. Solo turned into a city as the Spirit of Java. His admiration for the European urban development that he often seen when he made business visit, then be implemented in the city of Solo. Gardens green city built everywhere, pedestrian facilities extended, traditional markets transformed into a clean and comfortable, various cultural festival, folk festival, and a variety of events from the local to the international level regularly held in Solo.
Jokowi even successful relocate cadger wisely and friendly. This time, the trip has become increasingly difficult. Not all people agree and not everyone who once praised provided support. Jokowi considered to still have a job in Jakarta as a governor. Pros and cons emerged and a lot of black campaign attacked Jokowi. Likewise also the fanatic supporters of Jokowi many were defending and trying to impose their political opponents, Prabowo and Hatta. The political climate in Indonesia was increasingly heated. Greater political participation, but also negative conversation often heard. However, luck still back in favor of the Jokowi and made him as the elected president of the Republic of Indonesia in 2014-2019.
Now, the greater task and greater responsibility lay on the shoulders of Jokowi with his deputy Jusuf Kalla. They should be able to bring Indonesia to become better, despite the challenges and criticisms ready coloring thier step.
