Assistance was also a part of the international effort to rebuild the Gaza Strip after the 50-day war in the summer. Currently, Palestine is seeking international aid by $ 4 billion to build the country. More than 20,000 homes in Gaza need to be rebuilt and 100,000 people remain displaced with winter fast approaching. A State Department said the $212 million would be delivered through the U.S. Agency for International Development, this count half set aside for meeting Palestinian budgetary needs. About $75 million is devoted to Gaza recovery efforts.

Americans had previously been committed to provide humanitarian relief 118 million dollars. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas highlighted the extent of damage and relief needs there, to say the entire settlement was destroyed in the 50-day conflict between Israel and Hamas. The fighting killed more than 2,100 Palestinians, mostly civilians, and 67 soldiers and six Israeli civilians.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi urged Israel to launch a new peace efforts based on a 2002 proposal. The proposal includes Israeli withdrawal from territories captured in the 1967 Middle East war.  Foreign Minister Kerry also called for a new commitment of every person to seek peace that meets the aspirations of all parties. He said a lasting solution needs to be found and that the world doesn't want to see a return every two years or so to a war in Gaza, a cease-fire and another expensive reconstruction effort.
