This foreign ministers meeting at the Asia-Pacific region is to discuss cooperation opportunities and democratic political development in the region. Democracy forum this year will be the theme of how to strengthen the development of democracy in the region. It is mainly to meet the challenges of political development and public participation. In this event, Indonesia will conduct a maximum security activities in Bali as the host of the BDF. At least, there will be 4,600 combined military and police.
The Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) was initiated by Indonesia in 2008. This is an annual, inclusive and open intergovernmental forum on the development of democracy in the Asia Pacific region. The purpose of BDF is to foster dialogue based regional and international cooperation in field of peace and democracy. They wall aware of the need for democratization deeply by many countries. BDF is managed by sharing experiences and best practices that adhere to the principles of equality, mutual respect and understanding. While many countries have many commitments to this end, the fact remains that there is a need for greater effort in international cooperation to strengthen democratic institutions at all levels. In the Asian region, such international cooperation is even more urgent given the stark differences in political development among countries in the region.
