Russia is in the hard condition in national security. Conflict with Europe and United States is still ongoing. If the condition goes worse, Russia prepares to put outside their nuclear. In the economic case, Russia has to run about self-sufficient in food. This is because Russia just prohibit to the food import from the Western States. Hence, Russia has to prepare in other to keep their food supply security run well.

To this policy, Russian government gets full support from its people, especially from farmer. Of course, the farmer will be happy because they can produce and sell their product easier. They do not need to worry about competition. Moreover, the farmers believe that they can boost up the price.
Despite of farmers support, Russia also get full support from others country, such as Turkey, China, Brazil, and also from Indonesia. Many countries have been ready to take the blank position left by western countries.
Russia banned the import of food products from western countries. Started from Thursday, August 7 2014, Russia officially starts to implement this policy. This policy is implemented as retaliation on the western sanctions to Russia about Ukraine conflict. Russia plans to do this policy in a year. The following list is the product which have been prohibited to come in Russia, especially from European Union, Canada, United States, Australia and Norway:
- Fresh beef, cold, and cooled
- Pork fresh, chilled, and refrigerated
- Poultry meat and poultry food products from
- Salted, pickled, smoked meat dried
- Fish and shell fish
- Shellfish and other aquatic invertebrates
- Milk and dairy products
- Vegetables, edible roots and tuber crops,
- Fruit and nuts
- Meat or blood products, as well as products made from compatriots
- Ready to eat products including cheese and cottage cheese vegetable fat based
