The addition of green space to pursue deficit of green open space for the public to be met by 20%. This amount is determined in accordance with the target prescription Act No. 26 Year 2007 on spatial planning. Average autonomous cities in Indonesia only has 9.9% of green open space, while the open space area of the district has 12.65%. That is, the value is still quite far from the target of 20 percent.
In this declaration, the government was committed to prioritize 12 botanical gardens to be included in the development priorities. The development is targeted to be carried from year 2015 to year 2019. Of these, seven botanical gardens will be developed from the planning to the management stage. With the revitalization and development of this botanical garden, Indonesia is expected to be more green and also can improve the ability in research and conservation of nature.
