Chinese Investors Ready to Invest in SEZ Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Chinese investors expressed its readiness to invest massively in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Bitung, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Investment funds set up by investors from China's comparatively very large, reach about USD 300million. The Chinese companies intend to invest in the infrastructure sector, the maritime industry, and pharmaceuticals.

Earlier, the Governor of North Sulawesi, Sinyo Harry Sarundayang, inviting Chinese Ambassador, Xie Feng, to Bitung on Monday, September 22 2014. He wants to let Chinese Ambassador to review the construction site of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in the Red Cape Coast, Bitung City. The visit was also attended by the Mayor and deputy Mayor of Bitung, North Sulawesi Dept.of Public Works JE Kenap, Head of Trade and Industrial North Sulawesi Olvie Atteng, Head of North Sulawesi BKPMKR Joy Korah, and the Head of Planning Roy Roring North Sulawesi. The delegation was also invited to review the location of the fish auction in Aertembaga and Container Ports and Ports Passengers in Bitung.

This meeting is an opportunity that is intentionally made ​​to promote the region to potential investors. On the occasion, the governor Sarundayang convince the great potential that can be obtained by Chinese investors. China is a country with a biggest gross domestic product (GDP) in the world. Seeing this, it would be very beneficial if Indonesia  can cooperate with China. The governor also said that he is ready to provide various incentives and facilities for investors who are interested in China to realize its investment in SEZ Bitung.

In this regard, Indonesia received a positive response. Chinese ambassador expressed his admiration and readiness to assist North Sulawesi. Chinese Ambassador promised to introduce potential in North Sulawesi and will invite Chinese investors in the country to invest. Xie Feng admitted that many of Chinese investor keen to invest in the SEZ Bitung.

It is a good start in step. According Sarundayang, Bitung is projected to be an excellent business district. He was also optimistic that the potential of Bitung can equal or exceed the current SEZ Batam. Therefore, local government will optimize regulations that pro-investment.
