Indonesian online transactions continues to grow



The development of the internet continues to increase globally. In Indonesia, the internet has also been widely used. From the total Indonesian population of 250 million people, at least 82 million are Internet users. The most popular internet access in Indonesia is related to the social media account. Social media such as Facebook, twitter, path, line, and others are the most popular access among internet users. Facebook site itself is one of the most popular websites that are used by over 62 million people.
The huge number of Internet users creates special opportunities for trade. The online merchants are springing up to take advantage of the internet and especially social sites. Online commerce transactions or e-commerce in Indonesia grew rapidly in recent years. According to the data from Indonesia's Trade Ministry, the total value of e-commerce in Indonesian during the half-year to reach Rp 96 trillion or US$ 8 billion. This value is expected to continue to grow until the end of the year 2014. Over 1 year, the transaction value is estimated at Rp 288 trillion or US$ 24 billion.
The phenomenon of online trading is occurred throughout the world. Mach people tried to take advantage of this phenomenon. Now, almost all lines of business utilizing internet services, and also credit card services and debit card, which uses electronic technology. In response to the popularity of online trading that also occurred in Indonesia, the Directorate General of Domestic Trade (Ditjen PDN) Indonesia was trying to design a government regulation of trade through electronic systems. Preparation of draft regulations is included as part of the e-commerce regulations contained in Law No. 7, 2014. This is expected to provide a clear limit to this transaction and can prevent cybercrime.
